KBB sector debates English, Italian and German kitchens

The KBB (kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) industry has seem much debate, some rather hot, of late in respect of the merits of English and Euro kitchen manufacturing, and whilst we at i-Home Interiors can appreciate the competition is a little stiff for some, it doesn’t have to be the Us and Them attitude that some critics of one brand over another are seemingly suggesting.

Wide and Diverse Market Offers Consumers Choice

A diverse market offers consumers choice and just like Rangemaster accepted its Range cookers were becoming a bit outdated in recent years, rather than try and go against the tide (the tide being consumer attitudes) surely it is up to us as home interiors experts to cater to our customers needs?

At i-Home Interiors we are rather uniquely places in that we offer one well respected brand from each of the nations concerned and with UK kitchen brands accounting for two thirds of the UK kitchen furniture market, and the German and Italian brands the remaining third we feel that we have the right balance to offer most customers what they may like and require, from across the three brands we work with in Burbidge (English kitchens), and Nobilia for the German kitchens, and Bontempi for the Italian kitchens.

Not all German kitchens are Good and not all English kitchens are Poor

We were looking at the write up from the recent KBB London expo and it was very much a case of English brands trouncing the Germans and those working with the Germans trouncing the English brands but as per the above heading, “Not all German kitchens are Good and not all English kitchens are Poor”

However, whilst the likes of Burbidge offer handle-less and contemporary kitchen styles, the Burbidge Malmo handle-less kitchen being an excellent example, the Germans are not that great at doing the traditional English shaker, and the Italians just stick to what they do best.

We should think of the kitchen manufacturing industry as we do about the car industry in that whilst the UK has some great premium brands in Bentley, Jaguar, Morgan (which offer mid to high end products) a handmade Morgan sports car isn’t comparable with a Audi TT. They are chalk and cheese and loved by a different type of customer.

For the team at i-Home Interiors, which brand we recommend for a customer will depend on a number of variables such as budget, styling, storage requirements, need for decorative fixtures and fittings, other components such as door mechanisms and hinges etc, etc and whilst there is some cross over, especially in terms of handle-less and contemporary kitchen styles, each brand, be it English, German or Italian has its own identity and we think that these distinct identities cater for different types of customers and if the Italians are doing something customers in the UK prefer over the Germans and English, them surely its up to the UK brands to up their game and vice versa, so at to give the customer what they want, when they want it?

At iHome Interiors we tailor our designs around our customers specific preferences and needs and we can design and fit a from stunning range of Nobilia German kitchens across Buckinghamshire, London, Berkshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Hertfordshire.
